Suddenly, two hours ago, Thunderbird stopped connecting with my email server. My account settings are correct and I confirmed the email provider is not having problems. I restarted Thunderbird and the problem continues. What can I do?

I can access my email by webmail. Apart from Thunderbird's inability to access to my email provider's server, I had no other internet or connection problems. I tried everything imaginable. The last thing I tried worked -- restarting my modem. Given I had no other Internet-related problems, I could not imagine it was a modem problem, but, in desperation, I tried it and it solved the problem. I only wish I knew why.

Can you access your email via webmail? If you can access via webmail, that will help narrow the problem.

Could be as simple as a data error or a minor network change that was keeping your requests from getting through and the modem reset cleared the modem cache, so it refreshed with new information.
