Each time I try to reinstall Thunderbird, it reverts to an account I tried to install on imap, that didn't work. How can I get a clean new install on POP3, so I can restore my previous e-mails from on old computer?

Create a new profile using profile manager. https://support.mozilla.org/kb/using-multiple-profiles

The start Thunderbird with the new profile via profile manager.

I messed up. I redirected Thunderbird to look at a different drive / folder for my email info. After copying my mail folder over to D drive, I did a couple of tests and found that it worked ok (to check, I sent received emails, checked the file size and dates). Satisfied that it was ok (the files in C stayed the same size, the file in D grew), I then deleted those same files from C Drive. By accident, I must have included a different file in with the ones I deleted, 'cause Thunderbird then gave an error message "Your Thunderbird profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing of inaccessible." I tried uninstalling (it was in C), and reinstalling again this time in D), and still the same error message. I do NOT want it to try accessing the profile. I want it to install as if it's new. / that I've never had Thunderbird before. After that, I will direct it to where I have stored my mail. How can I do a clean fresh install without having to buy a registry cleaner? This is where I have the mail files: D:\Users\xxxxxx\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\xxxxxx.default\Mail
