Many people are still using Windows 7 due to privacy concerns caused by later Window versions. Please continue to support Windows 7 for Firefox?
This is a request to Mozilla. Also the latest version of Firefox failed to automatically install on Windows 7 is it safe to do a manual download and install?

I haven't heard of any plans to stop supporting Windows 7 (which I am using as I type this).
I got a notification of an update for the wrong channel -- I have the standard release, but I got a notification for the extended support release (esr). If yours also tried to get the ESR version instead of Firefox 53, that could explain why it didn't work.
I'm guessing that will be straightened out on the back end soon, but if you want Firefox 53 now, you can grab a download from the following page:
https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/
Your Firefox identified itself as running on 32-bit Windows, so you would take the standard "Windows" version. (To see the other data you shared, expand the Question Details section to the right of your question and click More System Details.)
Mozilla has a new online stub installer for Windows users on www.mozilla.org
The new stub installer allows you to choose 32-bit or 64-bit if you have 64-bit Windows 7 or later. Not sure if this new stub installer fully works with 32-bit Windows 7, 8, 10.
You can still use the full offline setups for Windows from www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/
The only recent Windows change was dropping support for the EOL Windows XP and Vista as of Firefox 53.0 and later.
