Can I use Mail Merge to include a VARIABLE image in-line within an email?

I like using the Mail Merge add-on for attaching variable images/files and creating variables within the text. Now, I'd like to add an image to appear in-line within my email - not only as an attachment.

For example, I have a sale promotion with my product graphic. I want to change the graphic in the body of the email depending on the location of the recipient. Eg; Salesman Bob's picture will show up for customers in Florida, Mike's pictures show up in emails going to Alabama customers.

I know that I could separate out my list and create individual emails with "static" attachments for each salesman but my actual application is more complex than the example so that will not work. I am not proficient with HTML so I'm looking for a simpler route if there is one.

Really that is a question of the add-on author.

Looking at the body of the add-on page https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/mail-merge/?src=search I see no refrence to images.

Perhaps what you need is a commercial mailer like MailChimp https://mailchimp.com/pricing/

I think it is indicative that the Thunderbird council uses their services to manage mailing lists of donors rather then Thunderbird because it is superior for that task. Horses for courses as it were.
