Up until a couple of days ago when I made a yahoo search and selected a site, the site opened in a new tab. Now it opens in the initial tab and if I want to return to the search choices I have to go back a page or start over. Very frustrating.

You can check the Yahoo search setting to see if you can find the setting to open a link in a new tab.

Note that you can middle-click a link with the mouse wheel to open the link in a new tab.

Many thanks. The culprit was Yahoo and not firefox. Problem solved
