I changed my gmail account password. When I tried to use Thunderbird a screen popped up saying "Sign in to continue to Mozilla Thunderbird Email." It requested an email address or phone. When I entered it, I clicked the "next" button and nothing happened. I quit Thunderbird and tried it again several times, but I cannot get past this page.

This is a symptom of someone using an older version of Thunderbird. Upgrade to version 52.2.1. Versions prior to 52.xx had problems with Gmail's new login requirements.
