My firefox updated itself to the 57.0 version when I stepped away from my computer. Usually, when I click on the new tab button, it would offer my pinned sites many of which I didn't bookmark but use often. After the update, when I click on the new tab button, it doesn't show my pinned sites anymore. How do I get my pinned sites back?

Just visit those pages again, and they should start populating the new "top sites" section, so you can pin them.
