New tab page crashes Firefox, how do I fix it?
Hi again,
What I thought was LastPass making Firefox crash is in fact the New Tab page. If I opened a web site from that page, it crashed, but if I open ordinarily it's fine. Now today it crashes as soon as I select a new tab so, when I finally could get into it I made it back to a blank page, which has fixed the problem.
The trouble is I quite like the New Tab page as it's quicker to open a website that I use a lot from there and I've grown to like it.
Is there any way it can be fixed or should I just leave it as a blank page?
Cheers
Janet

Hi, this might be an issue with Symantec/Norton software, so if you have it on your PC, perhaps you could, if possible, try updating or disable it to test.

What was the 'new tab' page set to?
In the address bar, type about:crashes<enter>. Note: If any reports do not have BP- in front of the numbers/letters, click it to submit them.
The crash report is several pages of data. We need the report numbers to see the whole report.
Using your mouse, mark the most recent 7 - 10 crash reports, and copy them. Now go to the reply box and paste them in.

Updating Norton is a good idea as sometimes there are patches waiting to be installed that other wise would not get installed. As for Norton crashing Firefox, I doubt it as I have never had a issue nor when was a Beta Tester for them.
But I do see an issue that possibly should be addressed. Please consider turning on send info to Mozilla from with in Firefox before posting a question. This helps us help you. I have no info from your system that would help see things that cause issues such as errors in your graphics drivers.
But the crash reports do : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration
Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.
It worked Fred, it was the Norton Web Search that was causing the crashes, as soon as I disabled it everything went back to normal......thank you so much
Good for you. You should contact Norton and let them know.
I intend to, thanks again
