Firefox removed a new bookmark folder and over 30 new bookmarks after updating

On Monday evening I was about to close Firefox to restart my computer and had a bunch of tabs open. I bookmarked those and a few extras on YouTube that looked interesting. When I opened Firefox again after restarting my computer none of the bookmarks I had just made appeared. In the history nothing showed up except the new things that I had just opened. The new bookmark folder I made is missing too.

I tried searching for a solution and found an article saying there should be a folder on my desktop, but it isn't on my desktop and searching my computer for it showed no results. I also checked my profile and I only have one active. Are these bookmarks truly lost, or is there a way to restore them? If they are truly lost then how do I know that when I bookmark something it will actually be bookmarked???

The only time Firefox will place a folder on the Desktop is when the user does a Refresh procedure for the Profile.

As far as that missing new bookmarks folder, I can only speculate that it didn't get saved. Perhaps you restarted Windows while Firefox was still getting shut down and the open files hadn't yet been closed down completely.

How about for bookmarks for those YouTube video links that you saved after saving that folder of bookmarks; did those separate bookmarks get saved?

None of them got saved, and for some reason FireFox isn't remembering anything from before the shutdown. Something else I just found out today is that FireFox didn't remember the bookmarks I made from a couple days before I restarted. I'm missing a bunch of game related bookmarks from about four or five days before the main issue happened. The oldest things in my history folder are from when my computer powered back on. When I restarted everything else on my computer was already closed.
