Why am I only able to open one tab at a time?

When I click on the + symbol for opening a second ( or third or fourth, etc.) and then click on one of my bookmarks, I only get a moving dot and the tab does not open.

This seems to be consistent with Firefox until I do a PC shutdown and open.

I have NO tab problem with Chrome or Opera.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Appearance
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window
