Can I set up Thunderbird so my email (i.e. GMail) is not stored on my local computer (ie leave all messages on server)?

My TBird profile currently saves all my GMail on my Mac which apparently is the default method. I am wondering if I can have TBird access the GMail server but not store the read messages on my local drive but still delete mail from the server if I delete in Thunderbird and allow me to move messages into folders?

Right click the account in the folder pane and select settings Select the synchronization and storage settings entry in the account settings list then deselect the first option starting with "Keep messages in all folders on this computer."

Save that. All done.
