customise compose
Hi Guys I used to use an addon called "Compose Toolbar Buttons" It added additional buttons to the compose bar to allow storing 5 regularly used colours (which could be custom colours) and a stack of other useful tools, like better (easier access to) table properties, add rows, merge cells etc etc.
Sadly, CTB isn't compatible with 60.x.x
Does anyone know if it's possible to create a custom text colour and assign it to a button or something? I know I can simply type in a value to the text colour picker - but that is exceedingly dull in this day and age.
Is it possible to edit the Text Style drop-down with custom styles? For example, assign one to my corporate font and colour?
I guess I'm just surprised (and frustrated) that the compose window (tool bar) is still very basic in this day and age!

As you already had these addons installed, it might be worth trying out the information given in the release notes to see if you can get them enabled again.
IMPORTANT: Add-ons not marked as compatible with Thunderbird 60 by their authors will be disabled (this can be reverted via preference extensions.strictCompatibility)
- 'Menu icon' > 'Options' > 'Options' > Advanced' > 'General' tab
- click on 'Config Editor' button
it will say be careful :)
- In top search type s.strict
- locate 'extensions.strictCompatibility' line
- double click on line to toggle True to False.
- close window
- click on OK
- Restart Thunderbird.
Thanks @Toad-Hall I tried this, but TB is telling me the xpi file is corrupt and it won't load it. I have gone back and downloaded the xpi again, but same result :o(
It would be super cool if your suggestion works

Not sure if this addon has anything you need, but you could try it out. https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/addon/customizemybird/

Thanks, I'll take a look tonight
I enabled "add-on debugging" and dragged the xpi file into the window and debugging displays this message; "There was an error during installation: Install manifest specifies unknown optionsType: 2"
Means nothing to me, but just in case anyone has a workaround or solution?
Here is what I find for Color Text Compose Buttons: versions 4.1.1 and 4.1.0 'appear to be corrupt' at installation, versions 3.3 and 2.3 install but don't work, version 1.0 installs and works (see picture), but the custom colors can't be set (no add-on Options).
Extra Format Buttons 1.3 has the option to add 5 custom text color buttons, but the color isn't visible until you click the button (see picture).
Thanks @sfhowes, I'll give that a try

It appears optionsType = 2 is not allowed anymore. I changed it to 3 in line 27 of install.rdf and also maxVersion in line 34 to 60.*, in version 4.1.1 (download the xpi file, change the extension to zip, extract install.rdf, edit in text editor, add back to zip), and it will install, but the Options are abbreviated and the toolbar is squished in the Write window. It will obviously take extra work to make it fully compatible with TB 60.
Thank you @sfhowes.... really interesting and useful. It loads and works, but I have lost some buttons. For the moment it's great thank you... I just hope the author updates it soon Thanks again
