compose mail window opens after opening multiple emails.

I have a habit of wanting to read multiple emails fast. no specific number of emails, but usually more than 1. whenever i open the emails a compose mail window opens last. I do not want to send any emails, just read the opened emails. i have deleted thunderbird and redownloaded it and the problem still persists. please help.
