Trying to fix a no read/write issue in Thunderbird, I deleted the main account. After putting in the known name, email and password, the server is found but will not allow it's creation saying the server already exists. Reopening Thunderbird or rebooting did not get around this. I later found out that Yahoo Email was sold and AT&T is telling me their use of Yahoo is no longer valid. Could this have also been part of the problem?

Did you get any notification from AT&T to adjust your account settings, and you ignored it? Then yes, this can be part of the problem.
