Thunderbird opens with the start page, but only for a fraction of a second. It skips to one of several email accounts. From time to tine a little window appears in the bottom right hand corner of my computer screen to advise that an email has been received. Clicking on the window opens that email account: thereafter when I open Thunderbird it skips to that account. I cannot find a way of getting the start page with all the email accounts and storage folders onto my screen

There are two possible pages you might be referring to:

  • Start page - click on any folder and do alt+home
  • Account Central - click on any account name

The "skipping" you refer to might be related to Bug 1484270 - Thunderbird 60: always starts up showing Account Central pane

Is the Folder Pane hidden? It's under View/Layout; press Alt if the Menu Bar is hidden.

TB opens in the folder that was open when TB was last closed. If that's not working, Help/Troubleshooting Information, click Open Folder to open the profile folder, close TB, delete or rename session.json.
