Hi, I'm new to Tbird. I tried to find answers in knowledge base, but I'm stumped. I ran Tbird for 3 days, importing pop files from old gmail account and I think I can find that profile. But Tbird disappeared from the Mac when i closed it. So I re-downloaded and re-installed. Now I need to hook up the old profile (presume it knows how to connect to Gmail account and has the huge number of pop files I need to re-access). I tried using the Profile Manager but it doesn't seem to be designed to connect a new install to an existing profile. Is there some easy way to connect the new Tbird install to the profile I made the first time? Thanks for any help.

Help/Troubleshooting Information, click about:profiles. Is there another profile listed that isn't the current Default?

I tried going down the Profile Manager path. There are three default profiles but none of them visible in PM?

Is there anyone who is offering to help others for fee? To consult?

I'm getting worried that I won't succeed in time for my situation.

Thanks,

Bill Wright

If you see three profiles in about:profiles, click 'Launch profile in new browser' for each of them until you find the correct one. Then, click 'Set as default profile' for that profile.

I'm sorry but I haven't figured out where to go to see 'about:profiles'. I've tried Apple Preferences, and I've downloaded Firefox, but don't see any 'about: profiles'. I've surfed with the phrase 'Launch profile in new browser' and it seems to refer to Firefox, but haven't found that phrase anywhere.

Could you outline the steps to get the 'about:profiles' so I can attempt to load the correct profile?

Thanks for your patience and your help.

In TB, click Help/Troubleshooting Information, then click about:profiles at the bottom of the Application Basics section. This will open a new tab that lists the available profiles and options for each one.

Thanks to you, I've made great progress. By clicking on 'Launch profile in new browser', I was able to get my old profile operating.

There are four profiles shown:

Profile: default-release (This is the profile in use and it cannot be deleted.

Profile: default

Profile: default-release-1

Profile: default-release-2

The first one seems to be active. Should I mark it as default profile? Seems Yes, but it's unclear to me what those other ones are...

Thanks and I think I'm nearly functional again.

The 2nd one is probably the one you want to keep. Set it as Default, and then you can Remove the 1st, 3rd and 4th, as long as they don't contain any useful data. But first launch them to verify.
