Thunderbird Calendar (Lightning): How to navigate to a date not in an adjacent month or year?

I’m using Thunderbird 68.1.2 (32-bit) on Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (64-bit).

In earlier versions of Lightning (maybe as recently as a month or two ago), I was able to use the Mini-Month in the Calendar Pane to navigate easily to dates not adjacent to the displayed month or year. As I recall, clicking on the month name in the Mini-Month would drop down a list of months; clicking on the year would drop down a list of years. This feature is no longer available.

The Mini-Month has buttons “One Month Back”, “One Month Forward”, “One Year Back”, “One Year Forward”, and “Go to Today”, but these are much more cumbersome for navigation than the previously-available dropdowns.

Here are my questions:

1. Is the removal of the month and year dropdowns from the Mini-Month a feature, a bug, a problem with my Thunderbird installation/configuration, or something else? 2. Is there still a way to navigate to a non-adjacent month or year other than one month or year at a time?

Thanks.

It seems it was removed by choice:

Scrolling with the mousewheel on the Back/Forward buttons is a decent alternative:

Thanks for letting me know about scrolling with the mousewheel. That helps a bit.

I do agree with bug 1529433 that there should be a better way to navigate dates.
