I have 2 computers both running win10 os and Thunderbird for emails

one computer has no problems receiving and sending while the other will not send smtp
both have the same account settings
The smtp .telstra.com gives a time out error . Telstra have checked the settings on the computer and have no problems , kaspersky security has been turned off with no effect so the problem is back to Thunderbird , a connection through win 10 . I need to find out how to make this computer connect to the smtp server

Check network settings in Thunderbird and confirm it is set to "no proxy". I just tried pinging smtp.telstra.com there was total loss (100%) of packets! Maybe Telstra has configured their smtp server to not respond to pings, but that wouldn't make much sense. Do you have other accounts in Thunderbird besides the Telstra one? While you're checking Tbird's options, open Saved Passwords, find the entry for Telstra smtp, remove it then try sending mail so that you're prompted for a fresh password. Make sure the option to remember it is checked.
