From my inbox left-hand tab I do a search and locate a group of emails

I want to copy that group to a new tab which then allows me to return to the inbox folder and look at other mails but then return to that temporary tab if I need to later

You could use Saved Searches to accomplish this. See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/using-saved-searches

Thanks guys
