TB 78 cannot customize email message pane panel
Hi Normally in the email message pane, the buttons at the top of the message (shown in the image) can be customized by right click and at least it can me made to icon (without text) only. But since TB78, they cant seem to be adjusted even with restart add-ons disabled. Does anyone know how to customize the message pane toolbar buttons? thanks

The ability to customise the message header toolbar was removed in v78 and there seems to be no intention of bringing it back, because this was filed as a bug a year ago here https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1556261 and remains open and unresolved to date. Fortunately, there is an add-on that brings back some of that functionality, available here https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-GB/thunderbird/addon/msghdr-toolbar-customize/
If the add-on doesn't cut it for you, then you'll need to downgrade to v68 and stick with it IF having that feature is an absolute must, but before you think about downgrading, export your address books first, because v78 uses a different file format to store address books.
Thanks sfhowes and Stans, the add-on worked great, appreciate the advice.
This add-on solves the problem. It is a shame that the functionality was removed in 78. I'd like to vote for its being added back in at some point.
While I realize TB is the result - product of a collaborative-community effort, whoever 'thought' eliminating the ability - option to alter the Message Pane Column headers via right click are, at minimum NOT very perceptive - considerate, or FAILED to realize (understand) users have many perspectives other than those who eliminated the option!
For three days now, I've been FRUSTRATED, confused, AND upset that when I click 'DELETE' (message), my mouse pointer is over 'MORE' only to discover the message remains & my ability to use TB efficiently is kaput!
Please return the modify option ASAP! I finally found the TB add on, but could NOT install - use it because a notice tells me it's 'unsigned'. Since I barely understood how to alter the alter / don't alter option-switch-code, I am stymied as to how to either remove (OR move) the 'MORE' heading!
I am not familiar enough with TB support to know how to check - look for an answer = HELP. Please, if allowed, quickly e-mail the solution (option(s) to me. dulca at duo-county dot com
Thsnk you! Everyone remain in GOOD health & be SAFE!
Here are instructions for installing add-ons:

Sfhowes,
Thanks, BUT as I wrote ABOVE, the notice warns me "'This add on could not be installed because italic text it has not been verified."
How to 'override the 'not signed' warning involves alterations I am NOT qualified to try!
Hopefully someone will reply-RESPOND with a solution that does NOT require me to risk corrupting TB simply to get the 'MORE' moved or gone from the options even if only to move it off the heading into the 'Customize' pane.
PLEASE understand just because I managed to find my way here, does NOT make me a software-OS guru! Apparently I have to remember/know how to find my way back here. Hoping my approving messages in our ISP's SPAM filter will allow a reply(ies) to reach my In Box
Thanks. appreciate any-all assistance, especially if step by step & written-worded for a person with limited familiarity. Remain in GOOD health, & be SAFE!

You get that error when you're trying to install in Firefox, not TB. Follow the instructions in the support link to download the xpi installer, and then Tools/Add-ons/Extensions, click the gear icon next to Search, 'Install add-on from file', select the xpi file.
SFHowes & ALL,
Ah, my brain works, THANK GOODNESS, albeit slowly.
The add on allowed me to FINALLY alter TB's message pane headings i.e. hid the 'More' heading.
Let me know if I must go find then post in another forum to inquire where the Junk Folder has gone. I used to be able to mark a message JUNK then click 'DELETE' and opt to UNDO so I could spot junk messages while on our ISP's site so I could add the URLs to the SPAM/block list.
Now three times I've clicked Mark as Junk, clicked DELETE, but now the message is GONE! UNDO does nothing! PLUS I cannot find the junk folder to retrieve - recover the junk message(s).
Any - ALL help - assistance will be appreciated. THANKS Remain in GOOD health & be SAFE!
Do you have Junk Controls enabled for the account in Tools/Account Settings? Junk is controlled by TB, but Spam is separate and controlled by the mail provider and managed through webmail. But some providers label their 'spam' folder as Junk, so you have to subscribe to it in TB.
I don't understand how the developers can be so ignorant to remove this useful feature. Please vote for the bug to reintroduce it: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1556261
