I see that Thunderbird can be set to automatically delete email in the Junk folder.

The problem with that is an email can be inadvertently sent to the Junk folder and deleted when it should not be.

Is it possible to set up rules for when email in the Junk folder is deleted? Currently, you can set up rules for deleting email, but it only applies to email that arrives in the Inbox, and the rules are applied after any emails are redirected to the Junk folder.

Thanks!

Filters can be applied manually to any folder, but filters only run automatically on the Inbox. Set up the filter to be run manually, then in the Message Filters window, select a filter, then select the folder in Run selected filter(s) on: and click Run Now. Filters can also be set to run before Junk Classification.
