I don't want to save or download files. Does anyone know how I can opt out of Firefox automatically doing that?

Are you talking about Firefox updates?

How do you completely turn off update checks in Firefox v64? You can use a policies.json file to disable updates for all users. https://github.com/mozilla/policy-templates/blob/master/README.md or https://winaero.com/blog/disable-updates-firefox-63-above/

You can use a policies.json file in the distribution folder in the Firefox installation folder instead as also listed in the article, so no need to use GPO keys in the Windows Registry. • https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/customizing-firefox-using-policiesjson

Hi Fred, No, I mean when I am approving expense reports for my company, users have attached images in a pdf format to back up their expense report. I don't need to look at those attachments in most cases, but Firefox either opens them up automatically, or sends to my download folder. I wouldn't care if it went to the download folder, but that results in an icon opening up. See attached screen shot. I then have to continually close these windows out for each expense report. Just gets tedious.

The browser should not be downloading anything unless you told it to one way or another. (security issue here.) What about the webpage? Is it set up to download automatically?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

I will check out the part about the website being set up to download automatically. I honestly am not sure.
