The recent update by Microsoft and Firefox totally screwed up my computer. It is so slow to respond with constant iterations of "Program Not responding" that it is completely unusable in most cases. It crashed Thunderbird and I lost many years of data and email that is completely unretrievable. I do not want EDGE or anything to do with it, but Microsoft has made plain their intent to force it on me by making nothing work . Is there a fix without going yo Linux?

If I had a restore point, I would restore it. Otherwise, I would try to retrieve the profile with Microsoft's Windows File Recovery tool by pointing it to C:\Users\<Windows user name>\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\<Profile name>\.

Windows is great when it works but in your situation if you are not relying on one of its flagship applications it is not worth the crashing.

What's your computer system and Firefox version?

Start Firefox using Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Was it the Firefox data you lost, or Thunderbird?
