Thunderbird email program did a system update on Tuesday (19/10/21) since then it won’t allow me to open email attachments. It recognises the file type (pdf/word etc) but when you double click to open or right click and select open it doesn’t, it just asks you to save the file.

So I am having to save every attachment just to view, which in my job is a big problem as I need to flick between emails / attachments regularly.

Anyone has any ideas that would be great, as up until Tuesday I have never had a problem and been using this email for years

Thanks

As you wait for one of the smart people to reply, you can try this...

Click on tools in the tool bar, then preferences, then stay in the "General" category and scroll down to "Files and Attachments."

Next to each file type, if you mouse over the column that says "Action," there will be a down-arrow that should give you some options to choose from.
