I always use DuckDuckGo for my search engine, and remove all others. In FF version 105.0.1 the 'remove' button is disabled when Google is selected (see the screenshot). All prior versions of FF have allowed me to remove Google. This version 105.0.1 always shows 'Search with Google or enter address' in the address bar. Prior versions show 'Search with DuckDuckGo or enter address'. I have attached a screenshot of the two latest versions. I am running Debian 11.5, 5.10.0-18-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 5.10.140-1 (2022-09-02) x86_64 GNU/Linux.

Hi, the Remove button is disabled in that box for your currently selected default search engine (which is set higher up on that page, hidden in your screenshot by the About dialog). Try changing your default search engine first, and then you should be able to use the Remove button for Google.

Does that work on yours?

I should have specified that the default engine was changed. After trying to set the engine multiple times, I finally re-downloaded FF and reinstalled. FF is working as expected now. The only thing I can think of is a corrupted download, although I would expect a bad download to fail during installation.

I wouldn't use about:config unless standard settings isn't working or something is wrong.

Nobody mentioned about:config until you did.
