Restore session
Sometimes when I open Firefox a screen pops up saying "We've had difficulty restoring your session". And then a button is provided to restore the session. I press the button, and the session is restored. My question, as a programmer, is why don't you just have the browser "push the button"? Obviously, restoring the session is not as difficult as you are leading us to believe. Is there something else going on here?
Thank you for any insight you might have.

Hi Gordon, by default, Firefox tries one automatic restore before giving up and showing that screen. You can set Firefox to try twice or three times and see whether that actually works. (If it doesn't work, perhaps there is a timing issue or deadlock and Firefox needs to complete various tasks or have an extra couple of seconds to do it.)
(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button accepting the risk.
More info on about:config: Configuration Editor for Firefox. The moderators would like us to remind you that changes made through this back door aren't fully supported and aren't guaranteed to continue working in the future.
(2) In the search box in the page, type or paste browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes and pause while the list is filtered
The default value is 1
(3) Double-click the BLAHBLAH preference to display an editing field, and change the value to 2 then press Enter or click the blue check mark button to save the change.
