Printing in color even though color mode is set to Black & White

more options

I believe this issue started today. When I print using the Firefox dialog box, all of the printed pages are in color even though the color mode is set to Black and White. I have not changed any of my printer setting and have been using the same printer for many years. The printer is an HP Officejet Pro 8600. I have Firefox version 116.0.3 which was just updated today to that version. When I use another browser (Google Chrome) the pages are printed in Black & Whte. Therefore this appears to be a Firefox issue. I am using Windows 10 64 bit. How can this problem be corrected so that the pages will print in Black & White when I use the Firefox diaglog box? Thanks.

You could use the system print dialog instead. You can make it default by going to about:config in the address bar and changing print.prefer_system_dialog to true.

Does it still happen in a new profile? An easy way to test a new profile is to install Developer Edition and see if it happens there or refresh your existing profile.

I tried the trouble shooting mode and the problem still exists (printed pages are in color even though Black & White mode is selected). I did a refresh of my existing profile and the problem still exists. It is interesting that the print preview shows up as Black & White, but the printed pages are in color. This only occur when I use Firefox ... does not occur in Google Chrome or MS Edge.

I also looked at >> Help >> More Troubleshooting Information to check the printer information. Here's is what was listed before I cleared the saved printer settings:

print_printer .... value = HP Officejet Pro 8600 (Network)

print.printer_HP_Officejet_Pro_8600_(Network).print_in_color ... value = false

I cleared the saved printer settings and then restarted Firefox, and the issue still exists (printed pages are in color even though Black & White mode is selected).

I checked the saved printer settings again, and the same entries are there again.

For me it is just upside down. My printer works oké, but the prints from Firefox are B/W even though the color mode is color. Help me please
