I've received a message from Google saying "We’re writing to let you know that starting September 30, 2024, your Gmail, Contact and Calendar account will no longer support less secure apps, third-party apps or devices that ask you to sign in to your Google Account using only your username and password."

Will this have any effect on my Thunderbird usage? Many thanks

In terms of TB, this means Google accounts cannot be accessed with 'normal password' authentication, but must use OAuth2 authentication. This has been supported in TB for at least a couple of years. Check your gmail accounts in TB for the correct authentication method.
