Serious Problem: Firefox Only Opens In "Safe Mode"???

more options

Greetings everyone,

I've had this problem for a while and I don't know what to do.

I had a problem where Firefox kept crashing before it had finished loading up all of my former tabs and windows and so I was given the option of opening Firefox in "Safe mode" which I did, but now Firefox only starts in "Safe mode"...

I'm running the most up to date version of Firefox.

Thank you for any help!

Is there a chance this problem could get worse to the point where I'm unable to open Firefox at all?

That would make me very sad :(

It is possible that one of the tabs you try to open make Firefox crash, so you either can try to disable tabs you opened as the last new tabs or start with a new window (i.e. do not restore the session).

Do you get the crash reporter?

If you have submitted crash reports, please post the IDs of one or more recent crash reports that start with "bp-".

  • bp-xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx

You can find the report ID of recent crash reports on the "Help -> More Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page.

  • click the "All crash Reports" button on this page to open the about:crashes page and see all crash reports.

Alternately, you can open about:crashes via the location/address bar.

See "Viewing reports outside of Firefox":

Okay I just disabled hardware acceleration and restarted Firefox but it still opens in Safe Mode and doesn't give me a choice for Firefox to run in "Normal mode" and only opens in Safe Mode.

Troubleshoot Mode can be enabled by holding down a Shift key on startup, so make sure the keys are not pressed or stuck.

I'm definitely not holding down any keys when I open Firefox. I'm trying "Troubleshoot mode" now.

I'm about to run "Troubleshooting mode now" and restart Firefox.

I read that it may be necessary to re-install Firefox and I don't want to do this... :(

Okay I just restarted in troubleshooting mode but Firefox is still running in Safe Mode.

I'm running the most recent version of Firefox.

I'm going to try and "Refresh Firefox" so hopefully this works! :( :( :(
