I would like to delete this question as I was able to solve the problem with the information provided on this page which was very good. I had tried to follow the directions but had failed to complete one of the processes satisfactorily due to an oversight (I didn't select correctly), and I restored the bookmarks to the latest backup, which was with them missing, rather than to the previous backup, which was the complete list. I also have been unable to find how to delete this question. ''After a recent cookie and unwanted stored browser data clean-up by my antivirus, Total AV (it was one of those pop-ups that recommended that you cleared out your accumilated browser junk, and it would not delete anything important), but since it was completed, I have discovered that when I click on a saved bookmark, the site selected does not open in my browser.''
