FF 3.6.3 Mac pauses for about 5 sec's every 20 - 30 sec's during simple browsing.
I can just be moving my cursor, rolling over the FF menu items and it will randomly pause(freeze) for 3-4 seconds then the spinning beachball displays for another 5-7 seconds and then I'm free to move about the page again. Give it 20 - 30 seconds and it repeats the same action. If I done move my mouse, it seams to work fine, no pause anyway. It almost seems like it could be related to mouse movement. It happened at least 8 times just while completing this submission.

Correction: Description, Line 4: "If I don't move my mouse, it seems to work fine. (actually I discovered it does the same while typing)
At least for me, the problem was the session saver. Increasing the session save interval as described here eliminated the pauses:

My problem is a little different. The beach ball has been spinning now for about an hour. My mouse does not work on FireFox. So I must use the power button to turn off the computer. I am sure this is not good. I am currently on Chrome, which is working fine. I prefer FireFox however. Bookmarked the fixit and will try after I reload FireFox. I am using a MAC OS 10.4 I believe.
I have the same problem, but I need to force quit Firefox.
