I get 2 firefox and mozilla tabs that override my home page

when I open the browser I get 2 pages "welcome to Firefox" and another tab opens at the same time "Mozilla Firefox start page. I do not want either. I tried and tried to set my home page both ways and when I open firefox again it goes back to the 2 pages I described I just want it fixed so I do not have the tabs and I have my home page open at start

Every time Firefox opened

yes, i have the same problem, except it is not letting me delete the prefs file. HELP!
