I can confirm that I have the same problem with that page, on Firefox 3.6.4 and latest Flash player. It doesn't detect that I have the Flash player. I tried with other browsers, and it works ok with Internet Explorer and Google Chrome, but it doesn't work with Opera. It must be a specific part of the code of the site that is mode made with Firefox 3.6.4 or Opera in mind. It's possible that it's simple an over intrusive plugin check, and Firefox may be blocking to protect your privacy (even if the result is less than optimal). In any case, since the same issue is reproducible in another browser, the exact same issue, I do think it's a problem with the site itself.

In regards to this toolbar Freecorder, is it an add-on?

I'm not sure what it could be in the page that's causing the problem. I just created the video with Camtasia and loaded it up on the site. Thanks for the info that the same problem arises with Opera, I hadn't tried it, just IE and Chrome and like you, it worked fine in those browsers...

As to the Freecorder Toolbar, I don't believe I got it from the Firefox Addon site, pretty sure I downloaded it from the Freecorder homepage, it's a toolbar from Applian Technologies http://www.applian.com/sound-recorder/ it allows you to record videos and audio files from web pages. I guess I could uninstall it and find something similar to use instead. Thanks again for all your help, much appreciated : )

Yes, Freecorder is an add-on (even though it's not on the official library). You need to check with its author to see what's happening.

If you need something similar, well, the best I can recommend is UnPlug, which is free and very easy to use, and works with many many sites. But that's an alternative, and if you like Freecorder better, it's not really what you want. I recommend you check with its authors.

Thanks for the heads up on UnPlug, going to check it out now, went to Freecorder support page and they had already posted that the software is not working with the latest update to Firefox. Oh well....thanks again for all your help.

This new process associated with with the recent Firefox Update to 3.6.4 is just hammering my system, with Plugin-Container.exe stealing about 60% CPU time from other applications on XP SP3. This problem only started with the upgrade that Firefox was nagging me to install. How do I roll back to the previous version? Thanks.

I don't have those other plug-ins so my comments only relate to the Adobe Flash plug-in. I installed the Firefox and Adobe upgrades sequentially this morning. With Safari the videos on the youtube site will still play. However youtube videos embedded in another site will play audio only. This is the same as with Firefox except that when using Firefox I don't even see the video frame, just a blank spot. (With either browser you have to click rapidly and repeatedly on the play button, or blank spot, to get the audio playback.) Since others on firefox and adobe flash forums report similar problems after upgrading firefox it's not clear how much of this is related to the firefox upgrade and how much to the flash upgrade. There's a message somewhere on either this site or the adobe site saying that the old version of flash had a security hole that was being exploited to damage people's computers.

Yes, you seem to be having a problem with Flash. Most likely the latest Flash version specifically. You really need to talk to Adobe about that, as I don't have the competence or the knowledge to help you there.

This morning I used Firefox to watch a segment of the Daily Show on their website. I don't know if that uses Flash or something else, but it worked fine. So far the only problem I've had is with youtube videos. Rather than pay Adobe $39 for someone to talk to me about this, I'm more inclined to just use Safari for watching those. (If they're imbedded in another site I can still watch them using Safari if I click through to the youtube site.) One thing that I still don't know is whether the Flash update would have worked with the previous version of Firefox since I installed both at the same time.

I also have the same problem. How can we downgrade to 3.6.3? Seems that some sights with flash crash, while others don't. I did not have this problem with the 3.6.3!

I was just watching a product demonstration clip on another website that was labeled as a flash video; it played fine. The clips that I haven't been able to play have, so far, all been youtube clips. As mentioned previously I can still play clips on the youtube site in Safari, but no longer in Firefox. Embedded youtube clips no longer play in either browser.

I have the problem with Flash 10.1 not playing nice with Firefox 3.6.x on OS X back when Flash was in beta. It worked for a few days, then I would get audio-only from flash plug-ins. I downgraded to the older, stable version of Flash (10.0) and everything was happy again.

I upgraded to the new, now stable version 10.1 of Flash and had the same experience. Everything was fine for a few days, then audio only. I'm running FF 3.6.4 and Flash 10.1.53.64. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Flash multiple times with no luck. I've also cleared the cache. Safari and Chrome are working fine. I guess it's time to downgrade flash AGAIN as I'm tired of banging my head against the screen.

Juhn, I'm not really the person to tell you this, but running older versions of Flash is really not recommended at all. Flash 10.1 patched a known major security vulnerability. Older versions will allow malicious sites to run code on your computer that could damage your files and your privacy very much. Please contact Adobe for more information.
