I downloaded Google Earth and a Hotbar virus was attached. It was successfully uninstalled, but I want reassurance that these scams will be stopped before mine or someone elses computer gets infected.

No browser, incl. FF, can keep a dumb-ass from dl'ing more and more junk to computer

Did you download Google Earth from their official site http://www.earth.google.com?

Remember not to just keep clicking Next when installing!
