When I open Firefox my homepage comes up (good!) but often a second page/tab comes up with an annoying ad. My pop-up blocker is enabled and there are no exceptions listed. How can I stop this?

I recently had a virus attack and have cleared them with Malwarebytes Anti-malware. This problem didn't happen before the attack. In addition to happening when I open Firefox, occasionally an unwanted ad will pop-up in a new tab while using Firefox.

Firefox can store multiple home pages, check to make sure that the ad site is not listed as a home page. See how to set the home page for details.
