After upgrade add-ons do not load. In Add-ons window, no data; all add-ons disappeared;. Also clicking < Browse all Add-ons > produces nothing, does not link to site. Navigate toa site to download an add-on: Add-ons window appears but no data or appearance of files or anything. So< Install> button therefore does nothing.

You can delete the files extensions.* (extensions.rdf, extensions.cache, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry. New files will be created when required.

See "Corrupt extension files": http://kb.mozillazine.org/Unable_to_install_themes_or_extensions

If you see disabled extensions that are not compatible on the next start in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the "Find Updates" button to do a compatibility check.

I had a related problem after firefox updated to 3.6.9, namely that when I tried manually updating Addons (clicking 'find updates') it kept stating an unknown error had occurred while searching for updates. This issue was resolved after I updated the Google Toolbar Addon to the latest version, which is version 7.1.20100830W.
