My PC laptop (Vista Home) has started hanging up in the Firefox browser. I start Firefox, (google home page) go to my webmail, start to navigate and it will become unresponsive. I have uninstalled FF and reinstalled, same thing. I uninstalled FF and loaded the beta version, same thing. Can get to this page on the laptop with out it hanging up. I am using my desktop with XP to send this question.

Note! The troubleshooting info was cut and pasted from PC and was copied to the desktop.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems. See Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins"

If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)

See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_data_to_a_new_profile_-_Firefox

If you install the 4.0 beta version then make sure that you create a separate profile for that version and a desktop shortcut to open Firefox 4.0 with that version..
