This is a problem with Google's new instant search feature, with it turned on you only get 10 results. In the Google search settings page, first select the setting "Do not use Google Instant" and save the changes, then go back into the search settings and set the number of search results.

That sounds great and should fix the problem but how do I find the google search setting page?

You can click the gear icon in the top right corner on the Google results page to open the Google Search settings window.

Thanks cor-el. Sorry to take so long replying, been away from home.

I don't know why but there is no "Gear" icon on the home page.The main problem I have is not so much the number of results per page but the number of pages of results, I only get 10 pages. The only way I can get more pages is to type Google.co uk into the address bar and when the Google home page opens, still no "Gear" icon. I make a search and low and behold there is a "gear" icon on the results page and I can get as many pages as I like. (There is no icon on the google results page in firefox)

I clicked the icon/search settings and disabled "instant results", set results per page to 50 then save. Guess what? no change, still only 10 results per page, but at least I've found a way to get more pages.

PS to my above reply. Just read TonyE's reply above. Went back into Google.co.uk (note the capital G) reset to 50 results per page/save and bingo. But still no luck with google.co.uk (note lower case g) in firefox.
