Often while playing a Youtube video it will pause, or hang for 3-4 seconds and then catch up (skipping the 3-4 second missed portion).

General performance is often slowed, makred by a 3-4 second pause: scrolling, linking, etc.

It's hard to be more specific than that. I have a couple of Add-Ons, a Download YouTube video tool, and Developer. I have had them for a while, while this problem has been fairly recent. I have tried emptying the cache, if that matters. I don't really know how (or have endless hours) to troubleshoot a possible cause. Thank you.

I've had the same problem and doing the following caused it to stop completely:

Open a new tab, and in the URL bar enter "about:config". Then locate the preference "browser.sessionstore.interval".

--- At regular intervals, Firefox caches the contents of the tabs and windows currently open, so that a session may be restored in the event that browsing is involuntarily interrupted. (Eg. during a browser crash)

The value for this entry indicates the time (in milliseconds) the browser will wait in between each caching. The caching process, by default, occurs fairly frequently, which may cause noticeable interruptions in online video playback or general performance. ---

Try setting the value for this preference to something like five minutes (300 000 milliseconds).

But do realize that a higher value for this entry will mean that Firefox will be less diligent in its ability to recover from a crash.

Had the same problem & made the change you suggested, and it seems to be working on one site! I'll go and check out the other ones I've had problems with. Thanks.
