When using hotmail, I cannot attach or forward attachments. This happened after recently upgrading Firefox.

Hi. I recently upgraded my Firefox on my Mac and I can no longer add or forward attachments on my hotmail email account. When I compose a new email or hit reply, the Attachment button/bar is visible but it does not respond when the mouse rolls over it. When I try to forward an email with an attachment, the forwarding email appears but the attachment is not present. I can, however, open attachments that are sent to me.

I was able to attach emails before without trouble, but have not been able to do so since upgrading my Firefox browser. I followed some older instructions which said to clear recent cookies and cache, but that didn't solve the problem.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Solution! I had read that I needed Silverlight installed to run those (and apparently it was already installed)....but after not seeing it help at all, I disabled it on my Mozilla Add-ons...and NOW I can add the attachments!

Thanks! That solved it. I tried upgrading Silverlight, but that didn't solve it. When I disabled the add-on, the attachments worked. Solid advice.

I had the same problem with Hotmail after upgrading to FireFox 4 recently. The 'attachment' button wasn't clickable even though the icon appeared on my screen.

It resolved when I disabled Silverlight under the Firefox Add-On > Plugins then I went to www.microsoft.com/getsilverlight/ and downloaded the Silverlight plugin and ran it with Firefox closed. And upon reopening of Firefox, my Hotmail 'attachments' was working again.

Thanks! It worked!

Disabled silverlight on foxfire and checked on Microsoft and found that it is already running there. Still can't get attachments on my emails. I have to close Foxfire out and open Microsoft to send email w/attachment. Not a happy camper here. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Where do you access silverlight to disable?

The chosen solution is really no solution, just a work-around, as the Silverlight plug-in or extension is needed for other sites to function properly. So constantly needing to disable and enable this plug-in will lead me to ask myself why I am bothering with Firefox anymore... Will there be a true solution coming that will make the Silverlight plug-in compatible with hotmail?
