When I try to update my Firefox, it doesn't connect to the update server. How do I fix this?

I use a Mac OS X Version 10.6.6. When I try to update my Firefox 3.6.13 using Downloading Update, the window says, "Connecting to the update server," but it never does connect. How do I make the connection? (The Safari Pop-Up Blocker is off.)

  • Download a new copy of the Firefox program: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html
  • Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install.
  • Install the new version that you have downloaded.

Thanks, cor-el. I tried following your directions but at the last stage was told I don't have permission to download "some items." Frustrating! jndrayton
