Does Sync need password and form data to be stored in Password Manager?

I've setup Firefox( Firefox 4.0 ) Sync and already successfully snyced to another device. So in theory all works fine.

Main problem is that every time I (re-)start Firefox, the sync settings are reseted and i have to enter all information again( user account, password and sync-key)

Am I seeing this wrong or is Sync using the standart Password Manager to store the account settings? I never want my passwords to be stored on any mashine. But still I want to use Sync for my bookmarks and settings.

Wouldn't be better if this information is stored in another way or that I at least don't have to fill in all information again but only the password and sync asks me for it when starting firefox?

Hope someone can help me.

That is correct. The password and sync key are stored in the Password Manager. Use a Master Password there, if you only want to enter one phrase for Sync.
