Is there a bookmarks button or other way to get a droplist of all your bookmarks in FF 4?

I installed FF 4.0.1 and I'm loving it! The only issue, and it's a BIG issue, is that I have to press Alt every time to make the menu at the top come up so I can view my bookmarks list! This is VERY annoying, so I'd like to know if there's any way to add a bookmarks button or something that will do the same as hitting Alt and then clicking 'Bookmarks'.

Thanks in advance

You have more options here. You can right click on the toolbar and add a Bookmarks tool that opens the bookmarks library from the regular toolbar. You can also turn on the bookmarks toolbar and add a bookmarks icon to that toolbar from the customization set of icons, which will give you a dropdown list of bookmarks, which is what I prefer.

In windows keyboard 'Ctrl + Shift + B' gets the bookmarks library, or without the shift the bookmarks sidebar.

  • You can also use the (orange on top left )firefox button -> Bookmarks (drop down menu & list)

If you set the menubar toolbar to display it will display instead of the firefox button if you prefer it that way (keys: Alt; V, T, M). You also have the option to enable the bookmarks toolbar, you can then create multiple &/or nested folders of bookmarks on the bookmarks toolbar if you wish; as a method of creating drop down lists of bookmarks.

Thanks, that solves it for now. It does remove the handy FF button though and the menu bar looks out of place, shame it's not a built-in feature to just have a button next to the 'Home' button or something.

Egowelt,

Just looking at the current customise options, Inoter there are separate bookmark buttons, one is the same as the sidebar, the other has a down arrow, and is the same as the old bookmarks option. The buttons can be placed where conxinient not just on the bookmarks toolbar, you can place it on the navigation bar, or even the menubar/tabs bar.

Looking again at the firefox 4 customisation, I note

  • there are two buttons for bookmarks
    • one with a down arrow, that is similar to the bookmarks menu item
    • one without an arrow, that is similar to the sidebar
  • I also note you can place the buttons on any of the toolbars, not just the bookmarks toolbar, they can be used on the tabs/menubar, or the navigation bar.

Great stuff! Cheers, will mark as solved :)

As to putting the Bookmarks button (the one that gives a droplist) on the Navigation Bar: that seems to work, but once you click Done after customizing, the button disappears for me and the Awesome Bar takes up its space. That button only works for me when placed on the Bookmarks Toolbar, which is fine for me really, I just wanted to point that out.
