After downloading both JPiinstall.exe and/or JRE-6u25-windows-i586-iftw, i get an error msg "the installer cannot proceed with the current internet connection settings" This is the Java installer. The downloads worked fine. is Firefox blocking additional info from Java? Additionally, IE doesn't work at all.

Try downloading the offline installer.

16MB vs 11MB for the online installer

I finally got a useful response from my internet provider. Sometime during a Microsoft update, the settings in IE mysteriously showed a 3G dial up connection. We removed that and it worked; the Java installer must use IE exclusively to download additional data, even though the .exe program was successfully downloaded using Firefox.

     O, how I love Microsoft!!!
