I can't get spell check to stay selected. I have the option checked in preferences, but no dice. When I right-click in a text box, "Check Spelling" is unchecked. So I check it. Then spell check works. But if I go to a different web page, and try another dialog box, "Check Spelling" is unchecked again! So, it works, but only if I manually select it every time. Any ideas?

If this setting is selected then you may have a problem with the preferences.

  • Firefox > Preferences > Advanced : General: Browsing: "Check my spelling as I type"

Yes, it's checked.

Spell check is working in this text box (as I'm typing this reply). But in an new tab, it's NOT working in Google. Would you test and see if spell check is working in Google search for you?

Google may be disabling the spell check.
I know that it does on the Google translate page (http://translate.google.com/?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&sl=auto&tl=en&text=)
