Ubuntu 11.04 64-bit, 2.6.38.11 kernel, Firefox 6.0.2 Unity DE

On random occasions, right-clicking anywhere (either the web page or UI) and attempting to mouseover the right-click menu causes the menu to disappear. I can still activate functions by pressing the underlined letter key, provided I actively keep the mouse cursor away from the menu.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

In Firefox 4 and later Safe mode disables extensions and disables hardware acceleration.

  • Edit > Preferences > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

If disabling hardware acceleration works then check if there is an update available for your graphics display driver.
