I upgraded from v3 to v6. Firefox Sync lost hundreds of my bookmarks - it kept all the organised ones, but lost all the unsorteds. I'm now facing an inquiry at work, and could cheerfully kill Mozilla. However, is there any way to fix this?

You can try restoring your bookmarks from a previous date. Firefox 4+ versions automatically store a bookmark backup for each of the previous 10 days that Firefox was used. Five days worth for Firefox versions below Firefox 4.0; so you should have at least 5 backups.

Did you even read the original post? I upgraded from version THREE to version 6. (and never again, it's AWFUL). There's nothing there. they're all gone. Thank you bloody Mozilla.
Did you read what I posted? You should have 5 bookmark backups from Firefox 3 which can be restored. Five days worth for Firefox versions below Firefox 4.0 ....
Plus, I doubt if that was caused by Sync itself, as Firefox Sync wasn't made for Firefox 3.0 versions, only as an extension for Firefox 3.5 and 3.6. I suspect those bookmarks were lost after the actual update, more than likely when you enabled Sync in 6.0.2.
I did read what you posted, and will point out once more - the organised bookmarks were kept, the unsorted - the majority - were lost. I tried accessing them THROUGH sync as I couldn't find them before I started sync and thought that might help. Really didn't. Sync was only loaded with version 6, never used it on 3. Updated from 3 to 6; tried to find bookmarks. All unsorted ones GONE. accessed sync; no bookmarks. went back to three. never shifting again, version 6 is a quick trip to hell. Should have known not to trust the program to preserve bookmarks, blame myself for being so bloody stupid to trust it to keep my information safe. Moral: always save multiple backups.
There should have been backups; there weren't. There are multiple backups on the same version of 3 on my laptop; for some reason the selection to save multiple backups was checked on the original version of 3 but wasn't saving them. Totally screwed now, and never ever ever updating again. It's ALWAYS a mistake. This has happened before with other programs. They never work the way they're supposed to, and I'm not the one who updated it. If the techs can't make this go right then there's something wrong.
and why the hell wouldn't a sync facility for bookmarks preserve them, but instead lose them? that's insane. is there a warning? because I didn't see one.
