I got infected by a trojan. This was a scam with system recovery. This happened around september the 9. I had my computer repaired by a local technician and he sort of reformatted my computer and I lost all my address in my bookmark. He did get most of my file back on my PC but forgot the bookmark. Can you help me to get them back because there is two years of research in those address.

I'm so sorry to hear that you lost your bookmarks! I'll do my best to help you find them.

  1. Navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\.
  2. If you have multiple folders in the form of [randomstuff.default], look in both. One is probably old with all your bookmarks, and the other is one your computer just added.
  3. Determine which one is old (with your bookmarks) and which one is new by the size of places.sqlite
  4. Copy the bigger place.sqlite over to your new firefox profile. (Make sure you copy both to another location as well, in case you make a mistake)

If you aren't able to find multiple profiles, I don't think there is anything else you can do. I really hope this helps!
