My middle mouse click no longer opens tabs but otherwise functions correctly, how can I fix this?

My middle mouse button randomly stopped opening new tabs within Firefox. All other middle mouse click functions still work properly, as it still closes tabs in the tab bar and allows for, lacking the correct term, dynamic scrolling within a page, yet middle-clicking a link no longer does anything. Ctrl+LMC still functions, though. It has never happened before today but has been happening for this entire day.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

If you have many extensions then first enable half of the extensions to test which half has the problem.
Continue to divide the bad half that still has the issue until you find which one is causing it.
