how to get rid of "KNCTED" from my system
every time I get online with firefox, the "KNCTR" search engine keeps on popping up. How do I permanently get rid of this?

It's probably running at startup. See this for information about get rid of Stay Kncted.

Try this. Go to tools, options, advanced, general and it will say on bottom "always check to see that Firefox is search engine"...click "check now", and then apply, ok.
I have Mozilla Firefox Start Page as my homepage, and my homepage fav'd. That way a blank page comes up. That way a bunch of memory doesn't get used up, as I don't always go right to my homepage, I sometimes go to Youtube or Facebook. I have an older computer, so save memory where I can.
I'd run CCleaner after changing, to make sure that kncted is gone, too. I have no idea what that is!
If you need help to set the home to mozilla, let me know...but I'm sure you know where to change your homepage. Heck, I'll tell you here, just in case. Click tools, options and type in "use a blank page" on top and the place for homepage, type in Mozilla Firefox Start Page. You'll have a blank page, and then you can always pick another page for your homepage, should you want to.
Good luck!

PS Plus, to save aggravation, while I work, I leave a blank tab open and periodically go to it and click tools, clear recent history...and just clear the cache. I can have tabs open and work uninterrupted this way.
I also learned that you can change the default memory use. Click tools, advanced, network and you can change your memory use to 10 or 40 mbs, depending on your needs.

Thank you for responding. Maybe I can ask the question better this way: When I go to "control panel" to uninstall "KNCTED", it won't let me uninstall it because it says "'KNCTED" is currently running. Close all instances of it now, then press 'cancel.'" However, "KNCTED" can't be running because I haven't even got online yet. I'm still at the start menu. Know what I mean? So how can I uninstall or delete this?
Try restarting Windows and then see if you can remove it.
Thanks for the tip. However, when Windows starts over and I get to my icons, the "stay kncted" hub or search engine or browser, or whatever it's called, pops up . And "uninstall" in "my computer" won't let me get rid of it because it says that "stay kncted" is running. What does that mean?
